The uniquely named Lizza's Mezzo Mezzo is taking over Pittston, and if you haven't stopped by yet, reserve a table today.
Translated from Italian into "half and half", Mezzo Mezzo personifies the cultural heritage of its owner, Pat Lizza.
"I used that name because my heritage is half Irish and half Italian," he said.
Pat was in the restaurant/management business for 21 years, prior to opening this restaurant, aptly, on St. Patrick's Day, 2004.
"My wife, the former Anita Ninassi, is also from a restaurant family Ninassi's, in Exeter," he said.
"We offer dishes that can best be described as Italian-American cuisine," said Pat. "We take great pride in our business: our dough and pasta items are homemade and our wings that are made from a family recipe generate a lot of positive feedback," he said. "We also serve fish and
traditional American dishes such as soups, salads, hot dogs, hamburgers, and hoagies."
Pizza is a staple at Lizza's Mezzo Mezzo, where many varieties including round, square, white, tomato & garlic, shrimp & pepper, and chicken wing are served. A glass of wine from Bartolai's Winery on Route 92 goes great with a panini, calzone, or stromboli- all offered at affordable prices.
Although Mezzo Mezzo has a thriving take-out business, there is seating for about 45 customers and a small room that can seat 30 for private parties.
While waiting for your to-go order or relaxing at your table, take in the pictures of Frank Sinatra that adorn the walls of the dining room while listening to The Sinatra Channel, which plays constantly on satellite radio to add to the restaurant's "Blue Eyes" theme.
The Lizzas' sons, 21-year-old Patrick and 14-year-old Brandon, are also involved in the business. A key worker in the restaurant, Brandon is on the autism spectrum and the family is very involved in the cause of autistic children and their families. The Lizzas sponsor the Earthly Angels Foundation and "Reggae for Robert", a fundraiser for autistic children at Our Lady
of Mount Carmel Hall.
Lizza's Mezzo Mezzo is open each weekday, except Monday, for lunch and dinner, from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. On Sundays during football season, the restaurant attracts many NFL fans. Are you ready for some football... and great food at Lizza's Mezzo Mezzo? |
