    Flat Rate Self Storage, on East Luzerne Avenue, in Larksville, offers more than 60 self-storage units in four sizes, ranging from 5 x10 to 10x20. Fabricated for long life and low maintenance, the durable units are made of corrosion-resistant, zinc-coated steel.
    Owner Debby Lichtenstein opened Flat Rate Self Storage in January of 2008, after settling on the idea as the best use of land behind an industrial building she leases to Valley Dog.
    "I wanted to continue to be a stay-at-home mom; this helps me not go back to theÊ9 to 5 right now," Debby said.
    After research and some hard work, the site was prepared for the units. The ground had to be properly excavated, concrete poured, and lights needed to be installed. Next came the fun part ordering two metal buildings that hold the 68 units, delivered by Trachte Building Systems, from Wisconsin.
    It took just two days to get them up, Debby remembers.
    The units feature Trac-Rite roll-up doors and have direct access. They are contracted on a month-to-month basis. A Grand Opening special, still available, offers a free month for every two months paid in advance.
Debby, who also rents out 15 pet-friendly apartments in Larksville and Kingston, knows exactly what she wants her customers to say about Flat Rate Self Storage.
